Car Parking

Accessible Parking
There is a dropping off point at the main entrance with plenty of room to disembark safely.

In the car park at the rear of the building (Mostyn Broadway) there are 18 designated disabled parking spaces; parking is free for disabled badge holders within these spaces.

Several bus services pass right outside the rear of Venue Cymru (In front of the car park):

12 – Rhyl Bus Station – Regular service running approx every 10 minutes, Monday-Saturday. Limited service on Sunday.

5 / X5 – Bangor – Regular services running approx every 20 minutes until 6pm, then approx every 60 minutes, Monday-Saturday. Limited service on Sunday.

X1 - Blaenau Ffestiniog – via Llanwrst & Betws-y-Coed – Regular service running approx every 60 minutes, Monday-Saturday. Sunday service running at approx every 3 hours.

By Train
Venue Cymru is around a 10 minute walk from both Llandudno train station (West Coast Main Line) and Llandudno Town Centre.

If you are exiting Llandudno station, take a left and follow Vaughan Street, continue to merge onto Mostyn Broadway. From here, continue down Mostyn Broadway and Venue Cymru will be on your left-hand side, just past Llandudno Swimming Centre.

Course Information

Our one-day Portable Appliance Testing Course in partnership with NAPIT teaches you how to carry out vital safety checks on the electrical appliances you provide your tenants with. This comprehensive PAT training ensures you are confident about protecting your tenants’ safety, with your safety as our priority.

Under the Landlord and tenants Act 1985 it is your responsibility to ensure all electrical equipment supplied by you is free of risk of injury to tenants and in full working order at the start of the tenancy and regular safety checks have been carried out during their tenancy to meet your duty of care.

Our course covers both theory and practice. Testing equipment will be available on site for Portable Appliance Testing course attendees. Prior knowledge of PAT testing or electricity is NOT a requirement to attend our PAT course.

Our expert team will:

  • Teach you how to use Portable Appliance Testing Equipment

Our THEORY session of PAT training will:

  • Take you through the latest IET code of practice
  • Take you through Health and Safety Executive guidance

During our PRACTICAL session of PAT training you will:

  • Inspect and PAT test a variety of portable electrical appliances with expert guidance
  • Conduct formal, visual and combined checks and labelling

Upon completion of this course delegates will be eligible to apply to NAPIT Premier Training Academies to undertake a bolt on City & Guilds examination only for the Certificate for the Code of Practice for the In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (PAT) Course (C&G 2377-22).  This is an open book exam with multi-choice questions to be held at one of their test centres around the UK which will last approximately 2 hours if delegate should wish to undertake this qualification.

  • Fuse ratings and visual inspections
  • Earth bond resistance tests
  • Insulation resistance tests
  • All Portable equipment
  • Handheld equipment
  • Stationary equipment (not fixed)
  • User checks including formal, visual and combined.
  • Reporting

Trainer Profile

Our training expert Ian Halton from NAPIT, has extensive Electrical safety, PAT testing and fixed wired qualifications, and has already undertaken the 18th Edition course prior to January 2019 when these latest changes come into effect. Ian has worked for NAPIT for the last 8 years delivering training to a variety of organisations, staff and individuals breaking training down to non-technical, easy to understand formats.  

He is a regular industry expert speaking at a variety of trade associations and events, including delivery safety advice at around 80 events UK wide, including our NLA regional meetings.  Ian has developed PAT Membership for NAPIT with over 300 companies now registered for PAT Testing to maintain their competency for industry best practice.
