Will Millennials ever be able to afford to buy their own home? It’s one of the most pressing housing issues facing society today and one that is commonly played out in the media.

Everyone tends to have a gut instinct about what contributes to the problem and the finger is often pointed in the direction of landlords and buy to let.

But to what extent is this assertion true?  While there is no denying that competition between first time buyers and landlords exists, it’s only part of the story.
