Landlords with property in Hackney should now be aware that following a consultation earlier this year, Hackney Council have now approved a five year selective licensing pilot scheme of all non-HMOs as well as borough-wide additional licensing for all HMOs. Full details on the council’s decision can be found here.
Concluding a six month consultation that began in late September, the council has now released its full report, (which can be read above) citing the poor conditions of HMOs in the relevant boroughs.
Alongside the licensing schemes, the council will also be launching a “programme of intelligence-based, targeted enforcement for homes not covered by the licensing schemes”.
The three wards approved for selective licensing are:
Brownswood, Cazenove; and Stoke Newington
