You spoke, we listened
The number of regulatory and legislative changes that have significantly impacted landlords over the past few years have made the support and services provided by a membership organisation like the NLA of even greater importance.
With this in mind we decided to survey our members to better understand what you want and need from a landlord organisation, and explore perceptions of our current service delivery.
This survey is our third annual survey of member sentiment.
The proportion of members satisfied with their NLA membership remains high at around nine in ten, with those “extremely” or “very” satisfied increasing by 6 percentage points in 2019 (returning to 2017 levels). This is great news to hear.
Members continue to say that the information, support and advice the NLA provides are key reasons why they would recommend membership. Positively, almost half of members find it straightforward to get what they want and need from the NLA (up from 43 per cent in 2018).
Also great news is that perceptions of value for money return to 2017 levels, with a whopping majority of 93 per cent saying that NLA membership provides good value. The strength of sentiment has improved with a proportion saying it offers “very” or “extremely” good value, edging up four percentage points to 51 per cent in 2019.
The likelihood of members renewing remains high at 95 per cent, with almost eight in 10 “very” or “extremely” likely to do so. For the minority unlikely to renew, a lack of relevant benefits and disappointment with the NLA’s lobbying performance continue to be two of the main barriers, along with the merger with the RLA (for those who currently have dual membership).
Landlords surveyed suggest that we can improve our offering by increasing lobbying to apply more pressure to Government and Local Authorities; hosting more local and more regular regional meetings; and improving the accessibility and functionality of the website. We hear what you say and we are working hard to meet those expectations.
