Hi, I'm thinking about doing the NLA Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) Course so that I can carry out the PAT testing in my rental properties myself.

What I am wondering is what would happen if an issue ever arose? Having done the work myself I wouldn't have a receipt or invoice as proof they'd been tested.

Some of the equipment will print a log of the items tested or you can run a manual / excel type log. No problem at all. PAT testing is really easy and the course is very straight forward.

If we take the line that we need an invoice for everything then perhaps we should all be employing Agents for our properties.!

NLA produce a record pad that is completed when you do the checks - perfectly adequate.
I ran it by my insurance company that I was doing my own testing, they were content.
