Event Overview:

Introduction and Agenda

Don Robbie, Local Representative, NLA

Meet your local Tradepoint Manager

Matt Radford, Manager , TradePoint - Lincoln

At the beginning of the meeting, Mel will join the meeting to explain how the TradePoint scheme for NLA Members and landlords works and answer any questions.

Electrical Safety in Private Rented Properties

Ian Halton, Business Relations Director, NAPIT

NAPIT is one of the leading Government approved and United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accredited membership scheme operators in the building services and fabric sector. There are currently more than 10,000 NAPIT registered installers in the electrical, heating, plumbing, ventilation, microgeneration and building fabric trades across the UK. Ian Halton will introduce delegates to NAPIT and also outline responsibilities of landlords for electrical safety. He will explain the role of the electrical condition report and how landlords can carry out their own safety checks during visits and tenant void periods.

Legislation and News Update

Don Robbie, Local Representative, NLA

April often sees the introduction of new/additional legislation for the private rental sector. Landlords and letting agents will receive an update on legislation already introduced, including The Immigration Act 2016 implemented December last year and also planned developments during 2017. In particular, a significant change to the scope for mandatory licensing of private rented properties and a confirmation of minimum dimensions of bedrooms is expected to be announced shortly following extensive consultation. This session will also include any news update from City of Lincoln Council.

NLA Branch Meetings are free of charge and open to anyone interested in the Private Rental Sector. Please invite fellow landlords to attend and ask them to book online.

Delegates can park free of charge in the hotel car park at the rear (enter opposite McDonalds Restaurant). On arrival please register car details with NLA Representative to avoid any charges.

It is essential to book online in advance so that, should the event details change, we will know who to contact. Please note that where we are jointly organising a meeting with another organisation, the list of delegates’ surnames will be shared with that organisation.  NLA Meetings are free to attend for NLA members and Associates, and all local landlords.  If you have booked to attend this meeting and you find you need to cancel, simply email bookings@landlords.org.uk. Include your name and the date and location of the meeting.

The hours spent attending this event will contribute towards Continued Professional Development (CPD) for NLA Accredited landlords. The relevant number of hours should be manually added to your CPD profile on the NLA Online Library

If you have any further queries please contact the NLA Representative for this area don.robbie@landlords.org.uk
