Richard’s family came to the UK from Spain in the 1960s and he grew up in Newark, Nottinghamshire.  He comes from a performing arts background and studied theatre and dance.  In the 1990s recession, he was involved in turning disused buildings into arts centre and set up and became Director of one himself.  Richard continues to work in training and consultancy with a specialism in HR and diversity and as a writer, performer and director in contemporary theatre.

Richard began his property business in 2003.  This brought together his enjoyment of financial strategy, reviving old buildings and maintaining positive relations with a wide range of tenants as he aims to provide them with a lovely home and great customer service.  Richard is a landlord developer based in and focussed on East London and is trying to grow his business over the next five years.  Particular interests include financing, landlord tenant relations, improving the PRS and its image, restoration/development and community relations.

Richard is really relishing being part of the London team.  “In the past we have had limited links in East London and I'm enjoying making contact with potential new partners.  East London is a really exciting place to be at the moment.  I am delighted to be a link between members and other NLA staff and to help and support fellow landlords.  Being an NLA member has been transformative for me.  As well as educating and informing me, it has helped me feel much less isolated and I've realised that there are many landlords out there in the sector who aim for high standards of decency and service and want to play a positive role in their communities.”
