Jim Johnsone MBE - North East

Jim’s background is in town planning. He grew up in Northumberland, graduating in Town and Country Planning in 1977. He then held a series of town planning posts at Alnwick, Mansfield and Stockton Councils, before becoming Assistant Head of Planning and Transportation at Newcastle City Council, and then Regional Planner for the North of England with the Home Builders Federation. His last full time post was Director of Tees Valley Living, a Housing Market Renewal Pathfinders.
When the coalition government abandoned the Pathfinder programme eight years into its intended 15 year life, Jim took early retirement and concentrated on his property portfolio in Teesside and Northumberland. After retirement Jim was awarded an MBE for services to housing in the North East in the Queen’s birthday honours in 2011. Jim am married, with three children and two grandchildren, and lives in Stockton on Tees.
