Promoting good relations
between landlord and tenant

The NLA provides three mechanisms in which landlords can demonstrate their commitment to best practice:

NLA Membership Card

The NLA provides to all it’s members a Membership Card. We hope that members will present the card to any new and existing tenants to demonstrate that they take the business of letting properties seriously and that the NLA represents a symbol of excellence.

In a recent survey, over 80% of NLA Members said they would like to be able differentiate themselves from local competition.

The card will be supported by a range of landlord marketing material which are available to order online:

NLA Accreditation

NLA Accreditation is based on landlord development and is a national scheme that all tenants in England, Scotland and Wales can recognize as a mark of quality.

All landlords can participate.

Landlords who achieve NLA Accredited Status are required to initially do a foundation course either in attendance or online as well as agree to sign the scheme rules. The scheme rules is their declaration that they will not only continue to keep themselves updated on housing legislation but act in a fit and proper way with their tenants at all times .The scheme rules also makes them aware of how we will manage any complaints that we receive from a tenant about them.

NLA Membership and NLA Accredited Status verification

In addition to the membership card, leaflet and moving-in folder, NLA members can invite existing and prospective tenants to check and confirm their NLA Membership Status

  • • Members can opt-out of the online register at any time by visiting the NLA website.

Furthermore, tenants will soon be able to verify a landlords Accredited Landlord status via the NLA Accreditation Scheme.

Landlords and tenants can verify NLA Membership (and, at a later date, Accredited Status) at www.goodlandlords.org.uk

From Tuesday 21 July 2009:
• Members using the NLA websites will be asked to verify their membership using their NLA membership number and their new NLA security code.
• These checks are made when you register for each website and each time you place an order.
