Stockton Borough Council offers private landlords even more
Sept 2009
Stockton Borough Council is pleased to announce the launch of their new Accreditation Scheme and invite applications from private landlords to join this free scheme. In addition to the various ways in which the council currently supports the work of the private rented sector; including tenant referencing through the Landlord Liaison Scheme and a Bond Guarantee Scheme; this new Accreditation Scheme supports the promotion of viable and robust private rented sector housing stock in the borough.
Councillor Steve Nelson agrees;
“Accreditation recognises and rewards the many good landlords operating in the borough. We will offer support and benefits to help improve their business operations in the borough; which in turn improve housing conditions for residents and communities in general. With a dedicated Accreditation Officer in post, the scheme allows us to further develop partnership working in the private rented sector and helps tackle issues that directly impact on residents quality of life; such as fuel poverty, Anti-Social Behaviour and homelessness"
In addition to the recognition and market advantage that accreditation brings there are also time and cost savings, help with any landlord~tenant queries, on-line training and professional development and discounts from various suppliers.
We are working to make this a truly collaborative partnership and as such strongly encourage all landlords to join the scheme. You can download an application from the council’s private landlord’s webpage or call to speak with our Accreditation Officer; Paul Rodgers on 01642 528533, who will be happy to answer any queries and or send you out the necessary forms.
We look forward to working with all landlords to support, strengthen and improve the private rented sector in Stockton On Tees.
