Local landlord raising standards in
Lambeth's private-rented sector
26 Jun 2009
Lambeth Private Sector Housing Forum has elected MaryAnn Pearce, NLA Regional Representative for London, as its new Chair.
The Forum, an independent body open to all – from tenants to home owners, addresses issues relating to the private-rented sector in Lambeth. It aims to improve poor housing conditions and to maintain good existing housing.
As Chair, Ms Pearce will be a member of the forum’s steering group. She will work on a wide range of topics, from licensing of houses in multiple occupation, to problems in accessing rental accommodation.
Ms Pearce, NLA Regional Representative for London and Chair of the Lambeth Private Sector Housing Forum, commenting on her new role, said:
"With the Government’s recent proposals to raise standards in the private-rented sector, the Forum has an increasingly important role to play in Lambeth’s housing needs.
"Lambeth’s private rented sector faces a wide range of issues, be they empty homes or repossessions. I plan to bring the Forum, the National Landlords Association, and Lambeth Council together, addressing housing issues that not only affect Lambeth, but the private-rented sector as a whole."
